Combine sugar, milk, butter, salt, and grated chocolate/cocoa.
Cover until boiling point is reached.
Boil to a soft ball stage (234'-238').
Add flavoring and cool without stirring to room temperature.
Beat until mixture is creamy, thick, and no longer glossy.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper,
or__ pour into a large well-buttered pan or cookie sheet
or__ form into a roll, chill and slice.
If desired, add 1 tsp corn syrup and/or broken nuts.
