Saucepan Brownies



1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter
2 Tbsp water
6-oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla

3/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup chopped nuts

*In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and water.
Over medium heat bring this just to boiling, stir constantly.
Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate and vanilla until melted.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
Mix the soda and salt into the flour, then add flour to the mixture.
Stir in half the nuts and pour into greased 8 x 8 baking pan.
Sprinkle with remaining nuts.
Bake in preheated 325" oven for 25 minutes
or until edges are firm looking and center is shiny.
Cool pan on rack. Cut into 2" squares.
